Margarita Iglesias (nee Sanchez Quiroga), of Kearny, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 11, 2024. She was 86. Visiting will be on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4:00 until 8:00pm at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. Mass will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
Born in O Dorno, Gomesende, Spain to the late Manuel and Argentina Sanchez, Margarita immigrated to the US in 1964 and settled in Newark’s Ironbound Section where she met her husband, Jose “Pepe”. They married in 1966 and moved to Kearny to raise their family.
Margarita was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working on her countless needlework projects. She created beautiful paintings and stained glass artwork which adorns the homes of family and friends. She loved cooking, gardening and traveling to Spain, but above all, she cherished time with her family.
Beloved wife of 57 years to the late Jose, loving mother of Rosa Eckhardt (Joseph), Jose Iglesias (Joanna) and Oscar Iglesias (the late Melissa). Proud grandmother of Julia, Stephanie, Paul, Matthew, Marin and Marco.
Sister of Rosa Domingues (the late Daniel), Benjamin Sanchez (Lola), the late Ramon Sanchez (Maria), the late Segundo Sanchez, Celeste Quintana (Joe), Marisa Hodgdon (Rick), Flora Cunha (the late Jim) and Emily Sanchez. She was a dear sister-in-law to the late Pilar Vazquez (Andres), Blandina Fernandez (Andres), Oscar Iglesias, Diego Iglesias and a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
