Carmen Leonor Del Valle San Juan came into this world on

April 8, 1945, although some documents say July 8, 1945.

Either way, this world was blessed to have this “good witch” worrying and watching over us.

Carmen was born in Caracas, Venezuela.  There is not much information about her formative years, but she happily shared that her Uncle saved her and brought her into his home during her teen years.  He made sure she had a fine education and sent her to private schools.  Something very special in Caracas during that period.  She adored him!

In Carmen’s 20’s, she worked for Seamen’s and learned office skills and how to deal with executives.

In her 30’s, Carmen became a nanny for a very affluent family.  She cared for their baby girl as if she was her own.

Carmen was proud to talk about the wonderful places she went with the family and raved that she even flew on the famous Concorde Airplane.

In 1988, Carmen made her way to the United States.

During the summer of 1988, Carmen answered an ad I placed, looking for someone to help me with my three children.

We hired Carmen and she quickly became part of our family.

The children loved her and she loved them back and spoiled them rotten!  There are endless loving and hilarious stories over those 18 years.

Carmen stayed part of our family until the day she closed her eyes on March 7th.

Our family feels cheated for her and ourselves because we were looking forward to happy days ahead as she started

another chapter living with Jenny and her family.

I will miss my weekly calls from Carmen happily saying…

        “Miss Suzie, how are you!”

                          MAY YOU REST IN PEACE
