Firmino Marques, 69 of Kearny passed away on June 5, 2024, after a courageous 15 year battle with mesothelioma.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Firmino at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Sunday June 9 from 2-5 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Newark on Monday at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Portugal, Firmino moved to Newark in 1984, and settled in Kearny in 1997. He was a construction worker for many years prior to his retirement. Firmino was an avid fisherman, and a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He most cherished spending time with his family.
Firmino was the beloved husband of Judite; loving father of Nelson Oliveira Marques and his wife Monica Saldanha and Marisa Santos and her husband Paulo; proud grandfather of Adriana Marques, David Marques, Sara Marques, Melanie Santos and Alexander Santos; and the dear brother of Joao Marques, Miguel Marques, Manuel Marques and Maria Gloria Marques.
