Esperanza “Hope” Dominguez

With heavy hearts we are saddened to say that Esperanza “Hope” Dominguez, 80, has gained her wings to heaven on April 15, 2024. She was truly a real life angel and an exceptional woman who touched the lives of anyone who was blessed to know her. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was a beloved daughter to Eloisa Ribas, whom she cherished very deeply. She was the sister of Tony Ribas and the late Maria Martinez.

Born in Coal City, West Virginia, she shortly moved to Detroit, Michigan for a few years. She then moved to the Iron Bound area of Newark, NJ otherwise known as “Down Neck Newark”.  She was a very well known and loved woman in the community for many years, which led her to make lifelong friends.

She then moved to Kearny, NJ in 1973 with her husband, Francisco. He was her lifelong companion and protector. They were married 59 loving years where they made unforgettable memories. They shared two children together, Michelle and Frankie. Her children were not only her pride and joy in life but also her biggest blessing. They shared an unexplainable and unconditional loving relationship.

She is also survived by her favorite son-in-law Pepe Rodriguez, who she has shared many memories with over the last 39 years.

She was the loving grandmother of her three granddaughters; Brianna, Gabriella, and Adrianna. Her granddaughters were her greatest gifts in life. She was their biggest supporter in anything and everything that they did. Each and every one of them shared a unique and special bond with her.

As well as her furry companion and pet, Pink.

A few of her most enjoyable hobbies included watching her granddaughters play soccer, softball and watching their dance recitals growing up. She also loved watching her favorite classic movies, going to the spanish dances with her husband and friends as well as going to church. She also enjoyed going to the Kip Center with her friends. One of her favorite things to make was her signature churros and chicken & rice. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and friends. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family.

Some of the exciting times of her life were working small jobs and owning her own card and gift shop with her childhood best friend. Some jobs include working at goldfingers, RCA, bank telling, being a school aide, selling Mary Kay cosmetics and working at Cathy’s Place.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday April 21, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny, NJ. Her mass service will be on Monday April 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church, which will continue at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ
