Jose Alves DaSilva, 88 of Lyndhurst passed away at home on July 4, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Jose at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Tuesday July 9 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Church on Wednesday at 9:45 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Portugal, Jose moved to Brazil as a young man. After marrying and having their son, the family came to the United States, settling in Newark in 1969. Jose was later a longtime North Arlington resident until moving to Lyndhurst 30 years ago. Jose’s first job in the United States was for Otis Elevator in Harrison as a welder. He later worked for Bell Telephone Company, and for the Meadowlands as a maintenance person, retiring 23 years ago.
Jose was the beloved husband of Maria Olivia DaSilva; loving father of Ricardo DaSilva and Gyselle Gaudio and her husband William. He was the proud grandfather of Matthew DaSilva, Sarah DaSilva, Aaron Gaudio and Ashley Gaudio; and dear brother of Manuel DaSilva and the late Esperanca Lopes. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
