Robert J. Oelz

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Oelz, 67 on Monday, July 8. Bob was the loving husband to Lynn (Scocozza) and caring and proud father of Matthew and Ryan. Bob was a son to Joan Oelz, brother to Nancy Mehaffey (Tim), Mary Ford (Jack), Chris, and Barbara McEvoy (Pat); son-in-law of Gloria Scocozza; and brother-in-law to John Scocozza (Maggie) and Nancy Scocozza (Chris). Predeceased by Robert Oelz Sr., Anthony Scocozza (father-in-law), and Donna Begin (sister-in-law). Bob will also be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob grew up in Livingston, NJ. After attending Seton Hall University, Bob began his career selling construction products and eventually started his own company, "Greentree Associates". As a leading independent architectural sales representative in the commercial waterproofing industry, He contributed to building projects such as the Javits Center and Yankee Stadium.  His success, he always said, was a combination of "the team" he worked with . He thought he had the perfect career.

A dedicated family man with a generous heart who harbored an endless optimism towards life.

Bobby had a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. 

Bob loved sailing, music, cycling with his sons and playing tennis at Arlington Players Club. He enjoyed working out in the gym, spending time at Stonehill on Culver Lake and going to NJ Devils hockey games with family.

Known as a true gentleman and all around nice guy. Let us learn from his legacy of selfless giving and caring about others.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Robert at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Saturday July 13 from 2-6 PM, with words of remembrance by family and friends shared at 5 PM. Cremation will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Arlington Players Club 12 Washington Place, Kearny, NJ 07032 or Overlook Foundation@overlookfoundation.org (Overlook is Memorial Sloan's sister NJ hospital).
