Purificacion Sanchez, 98 of Kearny passed away on June 21, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Purificacion at the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Monday June 24 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday 10:30 am at St. Cecilia’s Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Pueblo Nuevo Penarroya, Spain, Purificacion worked as a cook for the Secretary General of Mining. She immigrated to the United States in 1951, and married in Danbury, CT before moving to Newark. She has lived in Kearny since 1975. Purificacion worked as a seamstress for many years. She loved to cook, and most cherished time spent with her wonderful family and friends, especially her grandchildren, who she held near to her heart.
Purificacion was the beloved wife of the late Luis D. Sanchez; loving mother of Joseph Luis Sanchez (Sandra), Maria Fernandez (Raymond, Sr.), and Antonio Sanchez (Rita); treasured grandmother of Louis Sanchez (Armine), Lee Sanchez (Mark Stephan), Raymond Fernandez, Jr. (Lara Nestler), Joseph Fernandez (Lolita Ribeiro), Antonio Sanchez, Jr., and Verushka Sanchez; and the adoring great-grandmother of Joseph Sanchez, Mason Sanchez, Sophia Fernandez, Chloe Fernandez and Chelsea Fernandez.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
